David Clark    New Growth
New Growth

New Growth represents a continuation of my interest in making mixed media compositions using botanical forms as source material.  In 2023, my increased fondness for oil paint resulted in it becoming a dominant medium in 6 of the show’s 10 pieces.

Lydia Ferrell    Here Comes A Regular
“Garage Sale” 48″ x 60″

This show is a collection of older works that I haven’t been able to show anywhere in Denver until now. Some of the paintings are smaller works from residencies I’ve done over the years but I’ve never had a chance to actually put in a show. My goal with this show is to also see how much I’ve grown since making these. The show is titled “Here Comes A Regular” after the song by The Replacements, because to me some old paintings of mine feel like old friends that I see around now and then. The song also makes me happy I’m still sober.

Harita Patel     Stitched into Belief

Harita Patel’s new series of meditative works combine needlework techniques, printmaking, and poetry to convey the subtle but real relationships between human thought, belief, possibility, and action.

If each thread is a thought,
then each stitch is a belief,
We create the conditions that liberate and bind us.

Jennifer Pettus   Nearly There
“Tease” (detail) Mixed media 78” x 60” x 4.5”

In this latest work, I continue my exploration of the body’s shifting relationship to the biological and sociological elements that define it. Taking inspiration from the narrative strength of theatrical costumes and props, as well as the use of timeworn materials, I use improvisation as a transformative practice. More specifically, I hope to make viewers aware of their physical reaction to materials and how that might be connected to their assumptions about art and craft. By walking the line between the two I create objects that evade explanation and expand perceptions of beauty and value.
