Mala Setaram-Wolfe deja vu
Mixed media artist Mala Setaram-Wolfe explores the concept of episodic memory and the repetition of historical events.
Setaram-Wolfe primarily uses installation art as her chosen form of visual communication but her recent work experiments with the use of cyanotypes and enameled copper sculptures, which are the media used in this exhibition’s body of work.
Here she shapes copper and incorporates enameled graphite to create vignettes of memories of Colorado’s charred forests lost to wildfires.
Katherine Johnson Letting Go
I have been inspired by John Prendergast who teaches “ the experience of the moment” and “being instead of thinking” and Deb Dana who suggests that “who you are and what you are” are directed by the autonomic nervous system rather the brain. These teachers have led me to a new view of life. My art is approached by the inspiration of the moment, where the painting seems to be taking me. When It’s clear that what I’m doing does not feel right, it’s time to let go and find out what is. When I begin with a certain plan in mind, and suddenly feel that it’s finished, it’s best to stop there. This way of work seems freeing and depending on intuition. It feels like it can be believed in.
Faith Williams Dyrsten Uncontained: Beyond the Package
Faith Williams Dyrsten’s ongoing TetraPak series celebrates the often-overlooked role of pollinators behind the labels of our food packaging. Inspired by a trip to Costa Rica where she observed cacao, mango, coconut, and other fruits growing in their tropical environments — her artwork explores the complex journey that brings food to our tables.
John Horner Abstract Bas Relief: Farther Tangents
New work by JOHN HORNER–an ongoing exploration of the possibilities of mixed-media and bas-relief in an abstract approach.
