Artist Bio

Joan MacDonald’s work includes painting, assemblage, drawings, writings and multi-media installations.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to  Colorado in 1975.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Denver and a Master of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Her work has been shown locally, nationally and internationally. Joan has been a member of Edge Gallery, since 1997.  After living in the city of Denver for twenty years, she moved to the foothills where she enjoys working out of her studio that overlooks the town and surrounding mountains.

MacDonald usually works on a body of work that is produced around a theme and similar visual format.    Often one series morphs into the next series.  She enjoys interlacing visual images and ideas together with materials that result in work that seduces and/or provokes the viewer on many levels.
