Each abstract work in Surprises, the new series of abstract oil paintings by Philip Rader, were created to mirror life. The artist’s intention was to make his subconscious mind a visual reality and demonstrate the immediacy, emotion, and surprises he encountered during this process.
I focus primarily on abstract oil painting and mixed media. I enjoy abstract art because I appreciate the exploration and discovery the process provides. My process relies on spontaneity and allowing the emotional responses to each action to guide the way to the finished work.
The purpose of my art is to elicit an immediate emotional response that invites viewers to investigate the compositions more closely.
I studied fine art at Art Students League of Denver, primarily with Homare Ikeda & Jordan Wolfson. My works appear in private collections nationwide, and often appears at juried shows and regional art festivals as well.
