I use art making to facilitate an internal and external dialogue. The images move between objective human form, (not always identifiable to the viewer), and mundane subject matter. The nonobjective mark making is added later. I am interested in alternate ways of communicating, understanding social interactions and strengthening self-awareness.

Having used the human form as a grounding place allows the viewer to connect with the form as a recognizable object. The human form is slowly being replaced with more mundane objects; images of crumpled paper, texture of the side of a building, etc. The manipulation of the negatives allows me to express visually what is difficult to express verbally. For me there is always an anxiety of the outcome but a comfort in the process. The process has become the avenue for improving my understanding of that which needs to be understood.

All images are untitled, are  manipulated black and white negatives, digially scanned and printed. The sizes range from 12″ x 12″ to 30″ x 20″.
